Following on from AT's "legends" list and our Ron's thoughts about it lets compose our own list.....lets debate who goes on it!

I kick off with John Sidley!

Oh boy Brummie. This one is really hard.

If it's going to be characters it's got to start off with Ed the Scouser - the biggest character of the lot!

One oft-forgotten hero of angling is Ray Mumford. Ray is resposible for introducing pole fishing to the UK, and was a fantastic angler.

Does he have to be dead?

I have in my dictionary - "a person whose fame or notoriety makes him a source of exagerated or romanticized tales."

On the basis of "exagerated tales" then Ed is wrong by nominating Barney's arse. Nothing is exagerated about that, neither are tales of it romantic.

Why does an Angling Legend have to be someone who either writes books writes articles or appears on tv.
Surely most of you will never have ever met them never mind fished with them.
Most of my angling legends are local people whom i know and have fished with and with great characters.
So because someone has great command of the English language and can write a book that makes him a legend does it..
Most legends i know swear like troopers dont give a toss for reputations and as for writing a book or doing articles forget it,their rods do the talking
