Float Tubing in the Sea

I was considering float tubing close to the shore. Obviously its not a good idea when theres a strong wind blowing offshore, but has anyone tried it, or is it a bad idea? I was thinking of fly fishing from it.

not to sure about a float tube. to get far enough away from the beach/crowds to benifit you would be a long way out.

take a look at the new kayaks made for fishing. it has become very popular, meant to be safe and fun. i know of people who from kayak have caught tope with out ant problems.
