i'm not having a go im just more consered about the fishes welfare.Laying em on nettles and twigs aint excatly the most comfotable place to place a fish.You can buy cheap unhooking mats these days.In the past i couldnt buy a perposedly made mat,but one day i was in a charity shop and i seen one of those camping mats what cost me ?2, i cut it in to two so i got good value for money.
I even got some funny looks of my mates when i once used a baby changing mat. What i said to my mates was "it was good enough for my kids so its good enough for my fish" hahahaha lol

Its not something i'd usually do but Id forgotten my unhooking mat and its was me first river carp.

Also I made a point of laying the fish, in the net, over rushes to try protect it as much as I could.
