7lb 8oz chub from the Hampshire Avon

I was looking for something on the Angling Times website and came across what is now last weeks news that Pete Reading the Barbel Society Conservation Officer landed a 7lb 8oz chub from the middle Avon stretch. This ginormous chub was caught and landed on a size 18 hook and a single maggot, wow! I bet that gave him some stick and good fishing to have landed it.

There was also an article that may interest Steve d.b. Doctor Mark Everard landed his 450th 2lb plus roach with two roach weighing 2lb 12oz and 2lb 5oz respectively both caught on breadflake. That man has my full respect.

That sounds like some serious effort spent in the pursuit of fishing.
