Dear members:

It has been brought to our attention that a known angler (No longer a member of this forum) is wanted by the police as the individual has skipped bail. The offences named are very very serious indeed in connection with child pornography.

We feel obliged to inform you all about this as we feel it is the responsible thing to do.

We would urge all members, and parents to ensure that you use chat-rooms/msn/messenger carefully, and never ever arrange to meet people via chat rooms, or give any information about yourself out in a chat room.

Remember: YF have a policy that any juniors fishing our matches or get-togethers MUST be accompanied by a parent/relation above the age of 18 at ALL times.

We're sure you appreciate the steps we take to protect our members.

If any one has any concerns at all, then please do not hestitate to contact ANY of the YFteam.

Fishing being a broad church, unfortunately we do have these beasts amongst our midst.
If memory serves me right Fred West and Peter Sutcliff were both reported anglers.

Always ask as a parent, whether those adults instructing your kids on an organised fishing trip, have they had an enhanced CRB check done on them.
If they have nothing to hide and have had the CRB check then they shouldn?t be offended by the question, as they?ll fully understand why you are asking it.

If they're affiliated with the JAGB I think they will have had a CRB, but dont forget, a CRB only shows up those who have actually been convicted!

Absolutely Eddie! Fully accept that the system has some inherent weakness in it, but it?s the best check we have!
