DOZENS of fish were put into the Marsworth Moat in Tring on Thursday.
The environment agency decided to restock the local river with 50 tench to help increase the fish population and encourage more fishing in this area.

The local fish population was devastated in the summer of 2005 when large blooms of blue-green algae caused the oxygen levels in the water to crash.

The fish have come from an Environment Agency fish hatchery in Nottingham, and were transported on Thursday in time for the restocking.

Andy Went, a fisheries officer at the Environment Agency, said: "The reintroduction of the other lakes and rivers is taking place as part of our commitment to restoring fish populations in the area."
