Though I have not lived there or fished there for many years now.
What we used to do was to walk along the cliff paths during the daytime tides and look out for flat spots in the surf and note down where these occured.
Then we would return on the night tides and fish those areas as the flat spots in the surf denoted depressions in the sea bed which were often hotspots for the fish.

yes but you have to fish on the bottem deck. on the night try around the back of the fish market my mate once had a conger eel but look out for the crabs. our even next to the brige but thats at night cause during the day its fulla kids with crab lines. sorry about spellings if you need anymore info just give me a shout.

the best place my dad says is south gare its meant to be the best place in teesside the last time my dad whent fishing. a few weeks ago they was a haddock which was a good fish cause its rare or something.

went on sunday 6th. went of west pier bagged up on whitting on lug tiped with sqiud. fished 2hr up 2hrs down.
