A little while ago we had a thread runing for nominations for excellence in the independent tackle shop industry.
I recently visited friends in south Manchester and as most shops were shut called in at the Stockport branch of Decathlon.
Not expecting much - by nature having an aversion to large shops, malls and chains - I was pleasantly surprised by the range of carp and specialist gear they stocked.
I was even more surprised by the courtesy of the staff - I asked a question about test curves of a staff member in an adjoining department who went and found the tackle manager who was both knowledgeable and helpful about tackle and local waters.
By the way the store's own label Caperlan appear to be well made and extremely competitively priced. I will definitely return!
