...upon whomsoever it was that suggested loose metal ferrules could be massaged back into shape with a pipe cutter, the blade replaced by a roller.
My beloved "Harcol" Nottingham pattern rod no longer knocks, (took about four turns per roller's width) and if I worked at it a bit more, might be persuaded to make a pukka "POP" when undone. But I'm happy enough with it as is, now.
And all for £1.99 plus half a rubber grommet and a washer.
This dodge really works, and I am very grateful for it.
