I've had a quick look at the 5 piece Shakespeare Potenza 13ft match rod and was impressed with it. There are also a few good reviews on here about it and it's only about ?40.00.

Is it the best available?

I'm after a float rod in the main, with enough beef to handle the odd better fish.

I've seen a few telescopics advertised, but I can't imagine them being any good?

Not the best available.
Didn't you see the Peregrine rod,Paul?
More expensive, but the review is good.

Saw that Fred and it was that which reminded me....

I was after something longer than 11 foot and it's very probably too sturdy.

Have you had experience of the Potenza one Fred?

I have two of the Potenza travel rods and They are vastly better than they have any right to be and are ideal for long trotting where a rod with a bit of backbone is called for.
So yes they get my recommendation.
Hope this helps

Cheers Alan.

I want something for trotting or fishing the waggler on the likes of the Wye, so it sounds like you've used it along those lines?

This year will be a real squeeze in the car, so space is at a premium.
