What is the most productive bait on still water thru winter months.Groundbait wise this year i have had exceptional results using whizzed up pond sticks from the pet shop mixed with strawberry angel delight and ground hemp.

Seriously, that sounds like an interesting combnination, I have never thought of using pond sticks before before...how much do they cost and is there a particular type that you recommend ?

Dear Philip,Pond sticks from local pet shop ?2 75p per killo.No particular make just the type that they keep in big bins in the shop mix a few bits of luncheon meat in with it and use luncheon meat on your hook. What hook bait do you use for winter months. Regards Margot.

Hookbaits depend where I am fishing but its generally a bolie... fruity readymade or Grange CSL. I don't over flavor if I am fishing over a bed of bait I do if its single hookbait plus stringer.

Don't pond sticks float?
If so, do you mix them up a while beforehand so that they absorb moisture?

Hemp is still a great winter bait on the lakes, just don't use as much as you would in the summer months.
