I am giving a make over to an wooden continental seat box I have picked up second hand.

I have stripped back the peeling black paint on the body but I am not sure what to repaint it with.

Ordinary gloss may be a little too thick a finish.

I was thinking of Japlac but this is more of a laquer type finish and a litte too shiny perhaps.

Any one any ideas?

Thanks Graham.

Would you put a varnish over the top?

I reckon Yacht Varnish would be the best to do it with

Fluorescent orange would be a good base Nigel, in case you drift down the estuary and out to sea?

You must get it registered though if you want to use it on the Thames.

Thin coats, Nigel, and if you want to use yacht varnish (I have some if you want it), but don't want a shiny coat, rub it back with fine grade wire wool after. A coat of wax and bob's your aunt maud.
