I have been told this week that Drennan have stopped supplying titanium trace wire citing high production costs.I assume this in reality means it's not selling because of its high price relative to other materials.
Has anybody else heard this or can confirm it is correct.
Does anybody else supply titanium trace wire.I use it most of the time but my stocks of it are finite.

Alternatively you can get some from neville Fickling at The Tackle Shop in Gainsborough.
The Drennan stuff got very bad press from a lot of people, saying it failed on them Never used it myself so I couldn't comment. You might want to look at this however;

This is concerns me with regards to pike safety.is this problem with the Drennan(ESP) titanium wire common to all titanium wire trace material?
On a recent Tight Lines with Eric Edwards,Keith Arthur stated he now only used titanium wire for all his pike fishing.
I assume he has found a titanium wire that is reliable.

very worrying mind you im a lazy sod and buy ready made traces lol

Fair play Gaz, but I tend to find that making traces to my own specification, hook size, hook make and spacing, along with trace length etc not only suits my particular approach better, but is also loads cheaper.

See my post above. Nev's Ti wire is as close to bomb proof as anything you'll find.

C-rap. Invested £12 in some of this stuff recently cos I wanted to start making my own traces. The problem I had was the opposite, could hardly cut the trace with my pliers so had to invest in some 'real' trace scissors, another £12! Haven't tested them in anger yet as I've blanked at the last THREE attempts.
Still sulking.

What are you cross at, the tracewire or the pliers?

A word of warning to anyone who's thinking of switching to Ti. It behaves quite differently to steel and it takes some getting used to. You can't twist it up like you would steel and it's even difficult to crimp. It's hard and slippery and if you leave any little tag ends sticking out they will stick in your fingers again and again.

That said, once you've mastered it, it's streets ahead of steel in terms of its durability.
