I suggest you consider either the 25 litre or the 35 litre rucksacks from Drennan. Click on the rucksack photo on this link:

Drennan International

I use the 25 litre version for pike spinning and deadbaiting. I've tried single strap shoulder bags but they are less comfortable than a double strap rucksack and they aren't as flexible in use.

Korum rucksacks are of high quality, with more features than a Drennan. But this makes an empty Korum bag fairly heavy compared to the Drennan. It pays to move around when piking and it helps to keep weight of tackle and bags to a minimum.

Harry,

I have tried various tackle boxes over the years and have found that Plano boxes were the best for me .... solid boxes which don't snap / are "rubber" friendly (soft plastic lures that is!) / adaptable size compartments :

Plano - Tackle Boxes - Carp

I use the double layered "Guide" boxes (the ones at the bottom of the link above) for lures / floats etc.

So far as concerns a rucksack to carry your kit around in I stumbled across the British Army 30 Litre rucksack on e-bay :

BRITTISH ARMY FIELD BACK PACK 30 L (ARMY SURPLUS) £8.99 | eBay

Really good bit of kit and a bargain as well.

for spiining id go down the local b&q and check out some of the tool boxes. i have a small light plastic box with moveable sections inside that take all my plugs, spoons and spinners and little boxes on the top for swivels, quick links and trace wire. it cost me less than a tenner and has done me for years now

Like Keith2, I have the Drennan rucksack (25ltr), great build quality light and comfortable. As for storage boxes, being a tight ass Yorkshireman I use the clear plastic boxes as used in takeaways. They can be bought from places like poundland (20 for a quid). These are great they fit nicely in the pocket, the contents can be seen at a glance and they stop me overloading the tackle bag. It must be the cheapest modular system out there. :)

Another idea, although it's only for storing lures, is to take a small plastic bucket and hang the bigger lures from the rim of the bucket, with the smaller ones left loose in the bottom. I saw this demonstrated on a lure fishing video by the late Barrie Rickards.

I tried it for a year or so, and decided it was easier to keep lures in a selection of light plastic boxes in a rucksack.

If you are looking for a state of the art lure bag look at either the medium Fox Rage stacker bag or the Spro or Wychwood versions.
The beauty of these is you can buy extra clear boxes and customise all you tackleand only take what you need.
