I have just read the feature about the Portumna Classic on the home page and how nice it is to see a lady angler in second place.

Well done Helen Dagnall, that is a magnificent result against all those very experienced and hardened match anglers. It is a place I know well and have fished there very often and it can be a difficult venue to fish so that makes it even better.

Well what else can you expect from a Warrington girl?
Helen has been a top flight match angler for many years.

Match Fishing, and running a busy shop (Cheshire Angling) and she still finds time for the juniors.

Ignore the gender issues... two English World Champions in the top six.

Well done to Helen, from that hotbed of female match anglers in Warrington.

The photo is historic...Nuddy without his hat!!

Of the winner it says,

"The 47-year-old plant fitter from Oldham brought his wife Lynn for a week's holiday to this rural district of Galway and managed to more than cover expenses with his ?650 payout"

I bet she had a great time.

Wife " Why are you bringing the rods with you its is supposed to be a holiday"

Angler " I might just get a little bit of fishing in here and there"
