Graham, I guess the answer is yes and no. I think it is one of the most difficult changes in the Fresh water angling industry. Some people don’t mind the idea and have been practising catch and release for years. These people are normally not the Carp eating people of this world while some just squirm at the Idea of slaughtering fish. In South Africa is a real problem. People are so used to viewing Carp and other course fish round here as a given that no one ever thought about the idea of stock getting dangerously low. I remember when I was still a youngster and fishing with my dad the absolute truckloads of what you call doubles we caught. 10 pounders were seen as small fry and not even worth mentioning. Those days are gone, couple with the bad droughts we had in the early 80's which saw the Vaal river completely dammed up - the only time i ever saw the river reduced to a mere trickle at our local waters - to uneducated fisherman have depleted the stock - not really the number but rather the size - to minimum. Things are changing but it is a slow and tedious process.
