Hi there,
Any advice would be fantastic. I live and work in the Ardeche region of southern france (Given its name by the Ardeche river)
The river itself cuts through a limestone gorge and has numerous rapids with pools of slack water between them. There are lots of good sized double figure carp which I am keen to have a go at.
I am having a couple problems though!
I am not sure what rig to use, I don't have lots of complicated carp rigs and besides which it is very snaggy and has a rocky bouldery bottom in places.
And how do you avoid Poisson Chats they seem to snap up anything except extremely large baits that the Carp appear to wary of!
Please Help
Many thanks

Maize is probably your best bet as feed and hookbait. Whatever you use you'll still have probs with the chats but less with maize. Maize is very vailable in france and cheap. if you haven't got a seed 'warehouse' close try a garden centre.

Bait up regularly for a week or more then fish.
Basic rigs will work Nylon hook links and breakaway leads for the rocks.
Good luck.
