You could try piecing one together with spare parts from Shimano Felindre Nigel (tel: 01792 796584). Might prove a little expensive but you'd be gauranteed a brand new rod that way. You only need the but and the quiver top (no need for the Avon top for roach I suspect). I'm pretty sure the quivers are the same as the ones that fit the Antares Specialist rod and they're still available.
I've got two for my chub fishing. They're fantastic rods but mine are on their last legs. Wish Shimano would bring them out again. I'd have another pair as soon as I could put the cash together!

Oops. You mean the smaller rod don't you? Not the Technium Specialist? Same still applies though, I think, re quivers and being able to get them from Felindre...

Cheers Greg.Yes it is the 11ft one.

I have also been looking at the Fox Duo Specialist which comes with 4 quivers to 1oz as well as an avon top.Any one got one of those they could comment on?They are also discontinued but still available at about ?65.00 so you get a fair bit of rod for your money.

The Techniums the best Nigel unless you want to fish bolt rig style.
It is like a stepped up version of Shakespear's legendary Sigma Wand. It cushions fine hooklinks, but there is still some backbone when needed. The various quiver tip test curves are useful too so you can use it from stillwater to river.
I use the Antares version. It's not my rod, but I borrow it from a friend who doesn't get out that often.
A quality speci roach / dace rod in my opinion.

Thanks Mike.

A stepped up Sigma Wand! Wow.I want one even more now.

I'll keep looking.

Does anyone know of any automatic search facility on e-bay which alerts you to a particular item being listed?

Theres a butt section for the Shimano Technium Specialist on e-bay(?).I wonder if it is the same butt section for the Tecnium Quiver?

I'm sure the butt section is different. The technium quiver (which i have ha!) is 3 piece, the technium specialist 2 piece (I think).

You are right though Nigel - its a fantastic little rod.

Nigel, the technium 11-13 medium feeder is very similar to the technium quiver when used at its 11ft length.

Gaz is right, the tech specialist is a twin tip, and has a 6ft butt section.

I have both the Whisper and the Duo. Both of which are brilliant rods, especially for Roach. Now I know MH isn`t as popular as some other anglers in certain circles but definately check out the "Whisper" Nigel it really is a super rod and you can pick it up extremely cheap if you look around.

I have the old Shimano Aero Quiver, 3 piece, 11ft. It's super soft and has a through action more like a fly rod. I've kept it for dace and roach fishing but it's only been used twice in the yast few years. Lovely rod.

I've got the Technium Specialist. I remember the review in the mags, at the time it was about ?230 and I fell in love with it. I bought one in a sale about 4 years ago for ?110. and I still think it was a bargain, the best rod I've ever used for all round river fishing. I have thought about selling it but I know I will miss it when the winter comes again. I have seen them on Ebay but they still go for good money.

The Shimano Aero Quiver is an excellent rod for small river fishing for roach and chub and as Matt says, it has a lovely through action. I still use mine for winter fishing on the Upper Witham.

An even better rod for fishing on small rivers for roach is the Drennan IM8 Bomb Rod, the original 10ft version. This is a very sensitive quiver rod that shows the slightest of bites, which roach are often well known for on those cold winter days.
