I would like to paint/colour the tip of my new Greys Prodigy Twin Tip rod white as my eyes do not seem to be what they were.

Someone suggested white ptfe plummers tape. This seems an Ok idea, but could become a bit tacky and sticky in time.

Any other ideas?

No it doesnt become sticky or tacky, just make sure you get the fine ptfe tape, been using it for years, plus if it becomes tatty you can soon renew it

Use Tippex, the typing correction fluid, then seal it with a quick spray of colourless lacquer. If another colour is needed give it a wipe over with a luminous highlighter pen before the lacquer is applied.

Another 'tip' for quiver-tips is to give the top 9"-10" a double spiral wrap of fine braid, then seal it with a quick (very quick) wipe of superglue applied with the tip of the index finger. It prevents the 'accidental' splintering of expensive tips. Ive found that it has no affect on the action.

Very sorry to repeat Mi Lud, I type very slowly;)

Be very careful what you apply to a Greys Prodigy, as the low density carbon can be weakened.

Things to avoid:-

Water based lacquer
Oil based lacquer
Sunlight
Rain
Wind
Transportation
Fishing
Buying them !

Happily, fightliner, no, but know one or two that have.
They're about as good as the Drennan Barbel super Power Special Specialist (or whatever they're called). Just not good enough carbon in them, it's a question of time before they break. 3 years tops.

In reply to smithdave- I have used Greys rods extensively for many a year and when there has been a problem they have corrected it without any problems. My carp gear is Chub exclusively and also never a problem.I have a few friends that have had Prodigy's for many a year and no problem. I hope this service and experience continues.

I'm glad you're happy with them, leaky, but you have had problems then ?

Yes dear smithdave-I managed to squash a line guide, sorry to disappoint you. A light trout rod can be delicate when you are wading in fast flowing mountain streams. I dont think you can blame it on inherent bad manufacturing as you seem to be suggesting. My other trout rods are Orvis-any problems there ?

I don't want your rods to break, Leaky and I don't know much about fly rods.
I just don't rate the Prodigy Barbel rods very highly, they're not poorly made, but made of poor material in my opinion.
Everyone I know, with the exception of "our John" who's had them have had them break at the joint or about a foot from the top. I suppose, I could be wrong, it happened before, it was a long time ago. I'm sure it was a Thursday, I remember it was cloudy in the morning, but cleared up in the afternoon.

I use a preston yellow float paint, (got the same problem, old age !!!) you can get it from most tackle shops in the match section, and it comes off like tippex should you want to change colour

Everywhere except where i am supposed to be.
Dave,my dearest bro,i have never experienced any problem with my prodigy barbel rod,i as you know have the 3pc 1.5 tc 12ft rod and have had it bent fully with no problem whatsoever, the only problem ive encountered was losing the tip section somewhere!!! this rod is also excellent for surface fishing for carp,or mud pigs as some like to call them:)

My Prodigies have both had the tips break. My mate Kevvy reversed over them with his plumber's van down on the Wye. It was a sunny Saturday just after breakfast.
My John Wilson Avon Quivertip was also lying with them and didn't break.
I had an Orvis once. It never did catch any fish so I bought a Sage and had a 4lb sea trout first chuck.
