Bigger carp off the top?

At my local lakes all the bigger carp have been caught off the top. Are most lakes like this or just mine?

I seem to catch lots off the bottom, 4, 5, 6, 7lb'ers etc. All the bigger ones over that up to 12.5lb (my own pb, there is bigger in there) I've caught off the top with bread.

Strange or normal?

Quite normal in my experience.

Big fan of floater fishing and it has accounted for all of my bigger Carp.

floater fishing is great for singling out the bigger fish because you can see them. wouldnt want to be using floating baits if i found a couple of big fish troughing about in the margins in 8ft of water.....

Maybe it's just a summer thing, being new to carping this season I have tried on top and had quite a few doubles.
