Help on a 'reel' tough decision!

Hi!

I am looking to buy a reel that is a brilliant all rounder for ledgering/carp fishing and also (this will seem odd maybe) i would like a reel that has enough guts to it that i can take to do some bass fishing on a charter boat. i enjoy going coarse fishing more as that was what i was brought up doing, but have recently started going on charter boats with my dads work.

One of the reasons im looking at a fixed spool reel that i can use for lakes and some basss fishing is because its not very natural for me to use the skippers rods and reel combo that is right handed!!

Also if anyone else has done the same theory of using a carp rod with a fixed spool reel, what kit did you use and is there anything to be wary of while doing this?

Shimano Baitrunner 3500B, awesome bit of kit. Cranking power that will tow a truck and it's salt water resistant. It looks a bit oldy worldy but they are bomb proof. I think the Yanks call them a Sea Spin.

I use a Shimano Exage 4000 RA i.m.o. for the money absolutly brilliant,
the drag system is superb, just what you need I think.
