Recoil rigs

I'm having trouble making these rigs.
I'm using Kryston Merlin 25lb and cannot seem to get more than 4 inches into the silicon
Is there an easy way to thread the braid through the silicon? or should I use another braid?
One other thing, how longer than the silicon should the braid be? 2/3 inches or more/less?

Can't help I'm afraid.
I don't use them and can't see a situation where I would need to.

I also have my doubts about the validity of recoil rigs, although to thread braiud through silcon one way is to thjread some nylon through first then trap the braid in a loop and pull it through.....I also know some guys are using pole threaders or even mandolin strings from music shops belive it or not to do the same job.

Don't use them either, but the one Frank Warwick tied up in Carptalk last summer
Had 4 inch's of silicon & 8 inch's of Braid.
Use a Stringer needle if your having trouble threading the braid.
