Hello everyone, i have been wanting to float fish for barbel on the river Ribble for a while now and finally decided to give it a proper go at it, please could someone give me some help on this as ive never really done it before, i am unsure on the rig you would use and also the bait. i would like a method which can be done at distance as the Ribble is a fairly wide river. thanks Alex

be good to know if you have stick or waggler fished for the likes of roach, chub or dace before.....then advice could be more helpfull.

barbel hunters forum has a few guys up that way who fish it regularly, might be worth posting on there

good luck

Alex,
if you've done no floatfishing whatsoever, I'd suggest that you try to find someone locally to show you the ropes. Even just trotting for anything with fins would be a good place to start before you launch straight in for the barbel.
