its difficult to say Alex without a bit more information, ie what tackle are you using, what are you fishing for, what bait and how do you hook it, what type of rod are you usding and how are ytou striking, what distance are you fishing and at what depth etc
Alex, you don't need that type of float for a start. I think the best thing is to get someone to show you, it would be almost impossible to say exactly what the problem is without seeing you fish.
