Hi

What kind of fish do you wish to target on the fly as this is probably the best starting point as to what type of rod to purchase?

The equipment that you will need will depend totally on whaere you intend to do your fly fishing; river, stream,m lake, reservoir etc.

For example a nice light little stream #3 rod will be usuless in a boat in a lock or reservoir.

Tell us a little more about where you intend to fish and I'm sure that we can assist.

Welcome to FM too.

Cool thanks for the advice, i found this fly-fishing starter kit do you feel it has everything to get me going?

My friend is going to take me out and give me a few tips as well

Not too sure about the rod etc in that deal but try and read some reviews online and ask people what they use.

A #7 weight is a good option if doing lots of stillwater fishing.

However, check out this website below for some bargain rod options.

For a good fly line at a reasonable price check out Barrio lines

Don't spend too much on a reel as it essentially just holds your line.

Some good deals look on the site below or trawl the internet for the best bargains.

Greys Fly Reels

Whatever you do, don't buy masses of flys as you will probably never use them.

Just buy some good quality tippet material and tie strong knots :)
