I stick all mine in an old tin that i've used whilst fishing, say a sweetcorn tin. Used hooks go in, lid back inside which shuffles down nicely, cave the top in and its of to be recycled.

By the way, IOW ferry strike today.

Empty can or a sandwich bag. Same with lengths of line etc. wrap them up and put them in a bag. Take them home!

What Ho

Save all your old hooks in a tin - then when some young scally says to you
" Can I have a hook mister - I've lost my last one?" give them one of the old ones - keeps you both happy

I snap the point off with a pair of pliers and bin them. However, may adopt Lord Paul's excellent suggestion in future.

I never use a hook twice. I just bite it off at the end of the day and throw it in the water. Line, I wrap round three fingers and cut into small lengths and discard.

Please don't bundle old line into a carrier bag and put it into the dustbin at home. It'll end up on the council tip and gulls and crows could become snared in it. I'm no great fan of either, but wouldn't want them hurt.
