Review - Fox Predator Landing Net

Not being critical, Jeff, but do you really hoist fish up in a landing net by lifting the pole?

I tend to get the net under then trap the fish, then just pull the thing back to the bank still in the water, and as you say, lift the net by the frame/netting.

Thanks for the heads-up, though. I was on the lookout for a new net. Anyone any tips on the best/lightest landing net pole? I'd like something that can be extended to 10 feet or so.

No, but against my best advice, my grandson does.

On the subject of landing net pole, the big disappointment recently is that the extending one I have was made for Keenets, who have now gone pear-shaped. There is one by Drennan, which is pretty good, but for sheer strength the Keenets one took the biscuit even though it is heavy.

See here.

I totally agree Jeff. I`ve had this net now for about 4 years. I`ve teamed it up with the Foxtwist lock stalker landing net pole. Both items have been superb. Like yourself I`ve mostly used this net for Barbel [and Chub].A great roving net.

I`ve also landed double figure Pike with ease. But I concur with what Les says for larger Pike [over 20lb] a slightlywider net would be better.

I have used mine for the last four years and a great bit of kit it is. Iuse the same method of landing a fish as Mark but still managed to break the speeder block but I took it back to the tackle shop I bought it from and they replaced it. Much better than putting it in the bin.

The one problem I have found is that there are two screws in the spreader block (I assume that they lock the rim ends into place)and they tend to work loose. Not a major criticism just something to watch!

Mark I've got the Drennan Specialist handle, it's a great piece of kit light, strong, extends to about 11ftish & goes a treat with the FoxPredator net. The down side it's about 40 quid but I think it's worth it.

John, the screws on my previous Predator net actually rotted away. I replaced them with pop-rivets and then taped over them. The screws in the new version seem a lot better too.

Used it to land that little pike in Kevin's piece. Not that that was any great feat.
