Old Des Taylor will ruffle a few feathers again with his column in AT today. Des highlights the bloke who won a match with 661 lbs (using the Shock Stik pole) while his mate on the next peg didn't catch enough to win -he onlyhad 410lbs.
Des speculates on how crowded it must look underwater to sustain such ridiculous stocking levels and makes a very valid point about where angling is going and that we have become brainwashed into believing catching obscene bags of carp are the saviour of the sport.
Is that what its all about now? Catching the most or the biggest? A thousand pound of carp between two anglers? They must be packed in like battery hens.
Personally, I can be delighted by a day when I catch just one or tworeasonable fish, 10lbs of pristine roach or crucians; even a perfect dayon the blank as long as it's shared withgood company at a beautiful venue.
So what consitutes a 'good days fishing' for you?
