Mainline for Eels

Hi all, having used x-line for carp/tench/barbel fishing in the past but always reverting back to GLT Progold, due to personal preference I was wondering if due to it's heavy fast sinking properties whetever anyone has used it as a mainline to target eels?? and if so how they found it opposed to their usual/preferred mainline... I was thinking about the use of a sinking braid such as gravitation/bullet but am wary of hook pulls...

Also intrigued as to what B/S you would use X-line(if you'd use it) in as I have found that it is usually a little thicker than Progold and that it knots ok but never as strong as PG does...

thanks
