Do you really need setups like that for barbel? Nice pic though.Seems very much overgunned to me.

Spot on Nomad, River Carping and if you have ever hooked into a river Carp you will understand why the Big guns were out.

Maybe a daft question, but what purpose do the hangars/bobbins serve when they are so close to the rod? Presumably they wouldshow drop backs?

The only bite indicatorI normally used is a float hence the question!

Aye up Nigel,

I have the hangars on firstlybecause it will letme know if the Swans on the riverhave beenferreting aboutover my baited area, as i fish close in when im after river Carp and secondly and most importantlymy hangarsfly the flag ofSt George.

That is a cracking set-up Not at all over-gunned for barbel either.

Lets not forget the Trent system probably holds as many double figure barble as any river in the country..probably more and these are not "scrapers" either with rumours flying around of fish that would shake the record!
