The Carp Column

Good article. I am so glad that you have taken the time to emphasise the "safety" aspect for the fish...many writers seem to leave this out.

Secondly, I totally agree with u regarding braid. I had the displeasure of unravling a large carp wrapped up in 10 yards of heavy braid after it snapped the angler in snags. It was cutting into the Carps flesh as it struggled to free itself. As Rik says, please use a tough main line.

One method I would like to add to your methods is that of float fishing near a snag. This helps prevent fish getting back into the snag because they dont have the chance to bolt, they are normally so confused upon the strike that they are in open water before they know it.
