"Mr Danter was fined £50, plus costs of £428 and ordered to pay a £15 victim support surcharge."

Now, I have to wonder as to who is the 'victim' here, the EA or the Salmon in question?

And, If the Salmon then how will 'they' find it, and what the heck is it going to do with the 15 quid?

Victim Support surcharge indeed LOL

£50 fine ? don't you get fined more for parking on double yellow lines ?
What's a wild Salmon worth ?
Hardly a deterrent.

agreed.
What signal does this send out? Poaching is ok 'cos you only get a slap on the wrist if caught.

Beany, heed this warning; just cos salmon (along with sea-trout and wild brownies) are particularly easy to tempt on red maggots, you must not succumb to your primal urges.....

.....They must be returned ALIVE!!:D:D

Salmon-poaching fines can be very steep - vehicle seizures, big big fines, even chokey - as salmon sorts really don't appreciate their valuable fish being taken. Mr Danter would be sensible not to make a habit of this sort of thing.
