Some of you will remember Mr Todds Canal carp challenge.
With respect I propose a new challenge.
From tomorrow 21/3/12 to 15/6/12 get out there and catch a big canal carp.
Open to any canal in the UK, any method, bait etc.
Photographic evidence would be nice but not compulsory.

Sounds like an interesting little challenge. Shame that I don't even know where my nearest canal is, let alone one with carp in it.

Not a problem.

Biggest challenge is repairing any holes in the net made by barge propellors.....

Cheers Peter:)
Well that's the first of hopefully not too many blanks out of the way. Hopefully I'll have more luck next time out:mad:

Blimey thats a bit of a benchmark fish to beat.
I would be interested to know what method you used, presumably not the pole lol...
Any pics?

Not quite sure what blowback method is? That is the biggest carp in the history of canal carp challenge so far. Can you say which canal?

I think I can safely admit to it being from the Grand Union, its a fairly long canal:) The blow back rig is basically a hair rig which slides on the hook via a ring. Won't bore you with the full mechanics of the rig but its one that has snared a few big mouthed canal beasties for me over the years.
I think most would be surprised at the size of some of the carp that lurk in our canals.

Still on this...
OK hard to beat the Tramp, but there's always 2nd and 3rd.
Ends 16 June ....

Big silver trophies to be won .. ... .... ... .....!

I've had a few more fish though it's been hard work. Two doubles as well as lumps of 20.1, 22.14 and 27 dead......still waiting for that first canal 30 tho:rolleyes:
