Interesting take on a complex position.

My own experience of RMC/CEMEX is mainly on the Yateley Complex from around 2001 for a couple of years. Living within walking distance how could I not want to fish there?

Not the Carp & Cat venues (although I saw some marvellous fish from those lakes) but the ticket that gave me the Summer Pit, Pump House and Horseshoe. Between those three, I had very regular superb short sessions with Crucians, Tench and Bream. Quality fishing on quality waters.

Must go back sometime!

Very much with you on that one Neil - My son and I spent some great moments during the 90's - 2005 on the Summer Pit for crues and the Pump house and Horseshoe for some lively tincas/bream (and even on a Saturday they were usually all but empty).

Fished on RMC ticket at the Split Lake 2002-2005 had some cracking catfish and bream and some great nights fishing at Yateley. Then 2006 had a Cemex ticket on Horton Boat Pool catching catfish to 62 lbs !! Great fisheries thanks to Ian .

Wraysbury 2 in the 1980s when it used to fish its head off in a few spots for pike.

Wraysbury 1, five minutes from home, a visit to see and chat with the permanently camped Pete and Kenny fishing for impossible giant carp and see how how they were getting on.

I thought it was a good read as well, very interesting, especially with the benefit of hindsight.

Interesting reflections, Ian. It ios odd how beancounters don't understand the concept of 'goodwill.' Accountants and pseudo businessmen have wrecked so many businesses.

I hope I come up on the lottery next week and can buy the whole shooting match. I'll give you a call if I do, and you can have your old job back.

Hi Ian ,
Cannot say i agreed with everything you used to say (through the chair frank !!!!) but i grew to like and respect you with the passage of time you once said the accountants rule how right you were , still a bit of sentimentality never did any harm , the loss of all of those wonderful venues is almost to much to bear once lost they will be impossible to replace in their entirety and this is the greatest tragedy of all . I never had and short of a miracle never will have the funds for a gold ticket and consider said ticket to be just another form of elitism creeping into sport especially if specialist angling is to have any chance of a subscribed future , we must remember dear old gerry jerromes frequently quoted
adage the future of angling is Dads and Lads and this seems to be being forgotten in the race for a cash rich future and will eventually lead to the collapse of the house of cards which is anglings current future . Perhaps the only survivors will be a few wealthy people clutching their gold cards in one hand and their phone tablet with their latest trophy shot on in the other hand . Viva the revolution ! Best regards Frank Waddom-Brown
