I thought that the free spirit rod were more expensive than that!
Anyway, I found the fox Duo-lite range to be superb for the money, I have the original models with the fox reel seat but the new range look great for the money. Take a look on Tackle UK for the best prices.

hope that helps.

I would say also have a look at a 1.5tc Fox, (I have the old special) very versatile, but not if you want to cast big leads to the horizon.
Go and have a waggle of a few before you buy

The best rod for the job is a Korum Twin Tip, 1 3/4 lb & 2 1/4 lb test curve. You could chuck your grannie to the far bank with one of these babys.

Whats this!....I just happen to have one of these hardley used in my garage if you want to make me an offer :))))).

Too over gunned for me.

PS. free spirit barbel tamer on fleabay at the mo if you hav the bucks!

This one looks like it might cover all the options needed.

GREYS PRODIGY TX 12FT BARBEL ROD TWIN TIP 1.75 / 2LB T/C RIVER FISHING + QUIVERTIPS

About £115 delivered. On ebay.

Great days roaching yesterday. About 100 roach with a dozen over 1lb and most 8-12oz. Shame I didn't get back a bit earlier though. Thanks BW for your comment on the other thread.

Sounds like a great day Graham, I really love those days when you can get the roach going a fish a chuck (especially hemp on the drop) - keeps you focused for the days they switch right off.

Certainly was Jerry.
Hemp and caster. But to be honest I was only connecting with about 1 in 10 bites! They wanted it midwater.

Not the prettiest fishery around to be honest but stunning action. Arm is aching!

Anyone want to know where in Berkshire please pm me.

I've fished the Dove and Trent in your area for many years. I found the John Wilson Avon quiver to be good when the fish were smaller now the barbel are bigger the John Wilson barbel quiver is ideal and can be brought for about £50 on ebay.
Also the avon section works well on a carp pool the club where I fish has got
