Now I'm in full agreement with the fishing licence & some chaps who have been caught have got a stiff fine or 2, (although I seem to remember someone recently getting a couple of hundred). But how does it compare with this chap.

Can you credit this geezer only got ?150 & ?55 costs. Did they confiscate his gear? I presume he has a criminal record now but really I'd have thought he'd be fined more.

Doesn't send out a good message to the casual poacher or the people who are nicking fish for their diners in London.

Dave, I am sure that if he had been caught up here in the North east of Scotland, the fine would have been much heavier. Also, if is had been a Salmon, you could have doubled his fine.

What worried me more though is that he was carrying a spear gun on public ground. i am very supprised that he was not done under the Offensive Weapons Act.
