I have been sorting my gear out, which is stored in the garage, and I noticed my rucksack is beoynd repair.
I use it for short sessions and roving on rivers, so I dont need anything too large as long as it ha sgot a few pockets. So any advice from the great and the good would be helpful, cheers.

I like the Korum bag, which you can clip the chair to if you are Arnie.Without putting the chair on its roomy with plenty of pockets inside and out. It lies flat so all the kit is easy to see and get at. The bottom of it is tough and waterproofed all in all a lovely bit of kit with good zips as well.

If you wait for the summer Aldi fishing stuff to come in then they do an excellent little bag for under a tenner which other makes such as Chub et al stick their label on and charge you £35.

Great little summer roving bag, Ive got 3!

Doesn't that defeat the object of travelling light when roving, ain't it a bit awkward trying to carry 3 bags at once?......LOL!!

Drennan Super specialist rucksack every time for me. I've had mine for years - one main compartment and 3 generous outside pockets with a good rubberised base. Also well padded. No zips to break either and best of all comes in two sizes. I find the 25ltr perfectly adequate for a days fishing on the river yours for less than £30.

Is it that tricky, I've got the chair and was thinking about the Korum bag (already got the Aldi one for a tenner)

I myself being a hill walker have given this some thought. The best way to load a rucksack is to load the heavy gear high up and against the back as this aids your centre of gravity, I cannot see the point in having something like a carp chair hanging off the back of a rucksack as this would alter your COG, unbalancing you, and would make it very awkward and IMO very dangerous to walk even a short distance.
I know Korum make some dam fine gear, but whoever designed this bag as obviously never used a rucksack before!

The folded up chair hangs between the ruckbag and your back Mark. It's balanced enough and reasonably easy to carry for fairly long distances (compared to my old seat box anyway).

I have the Korum accessory chair and XL ruckbag, both of which I'm very happy with - although it has occured to me that I now lose 15 mins fishing time unfolding chair legs and screwing bait trays and rests on etc!

Thanks everyone, I have looked at the Korum range and have thought of looking at army surplus. I still have over a month till I can hit the rivers i have a lightweight chair so its just the bag.

i have my old PLCE army bergen for fishing and couldnt imagine being without it. over the last 20 its been loaded to the extent that i cant lift it to my shoulders and need to sit down to strap it on and then stand up and still its not shown any signs of wear.
also the side pockets unzip and can be zipped together and clipped onto a seperate yolk (strap) to form a day pack for when your going light.
my fishing mate is on his 3rd rucksack in 15 years and each one cost him more that a 2nd hand PLCE from ebay would cost
the aldi bag is also great if your doing a bit of light roving though i use mine to carry all my bait.

I also rate the Korum range highly, but there are so many options out there I would shop around and make sure what yopu buy, exactly suits the kit you are looking to carry. Most of these products are pretty good quality nowadays.

Just an update, I have had a good llok at all the recommendations and in the end I plumped for a Korum ITM bait and bits bag. It looks to be just what I want even if it isn,t a rucksack. It takes my Wychwood tackle box and the free rig manager I got with the bag. All I need to do now is to decide on what else needs to go in it.
