Good camera Cakey you are probably better off putting it in part ex for a D300 or something, you can pick a D200 now for £650, these things lose money rapidly, what are you getting to replace it Cakey
I thought he part ex it for the D300?, yes the D200 is still a good camera,I use the D200 and still use a D100, the D3 is the one though, I like the larger format idea, I used to be an Hassleblad user you see, just dont have that sort of money, you need the lenses too see mate
Cakey, you will find the battery pack very useful, buy yourself a good quality case to go with it, like a lowpro, you will find the battery pack good for France, you can also take one of the battries out in cold weather and keep it in your pocket, they dont like the cold and go a bit weird of course. Good luck mate that will last you a few years, a great camera mate
Ged, i`m thinking about the basic principles of photography, a full mannual camera is better to learn on, although the D80 would be a good back up of course, the basic principles being apperture (F stops) and shutter speeds against film/ISO ratings, its basically the combination of these three that produces good mechanical photographs in ambient light, the artistic bit is something else of course. having said that you do have manual settings on the D80, but its so easy to take the easy way out and use the programmes
Cakey I used these Lowepro top loaders, this one, the 65, will fit the D200 with the battery pack on an a medium zoom lense, they last a lifetime, had mine about 6 years now, apart froma little colour washout its still like new, you can throw it in the bottom of the rucksack really strong bags highly protective
Emailed you with my phone number Cakey, don't know whether it's my email but I get 2 out of 3 messages receiving, complete, but nothing shows in my inbox.
