hook size

going carp fishing on an overnighter first time in winter hoping to beat my pb which i caught in summer as thats when i do most of my freashwater as i am a sea fisherman in winter but back to the point b4 you all fall to sleep. got info about bait but what size hook do i take as ive heard you do not use larege hooks in winter they say size 18/20 what would you recomend thanks

Flumpy tell us the size of the bait and the size of the fish your after and we may be able to help.

As a general rule the hook size should be in proportion with the bait i.e a 16mm boilie would probably be matched with a size 8 hook.

The most important thing to remember is use a hook that can land the fish.

the bait is boilie porob 16mm so ill take some size 8 hooks thanks.

got told the place has carp up to 20lb

its pool bridge farm near york
