Rods for F,W fishing...advice please

Okay men!

I have been bitten by the flood fishing bug.

I have the reels to do the job....is there any reason why I cant use my carp fishing rods when the river is up to its max?(2 3/4 test curve 12ft).

I used my Avon first time out....it bent so far round in the current it nearly poked my eye out!!!

Do I need "proper flood rods"... different action etc, or do you think these will do the job.

If not, I am on a budget, what would you recommend.

Use your carp rod mate.

See how it performs,and if it does the job,which I'm sure it will,more dosh for pies!

I don't see why not Deanos. 2 1/4 tc would also be nice. With not too soft an action. I often use a 1 3/4 for such conditions.
