Right then!!! Masterline!!!

I had a John Wilson avon rod that I used for ages, excellent versatile rod I am sure you will agree, if you are like me, a good all round old fellow who can't carry loads of tackle everywhere...

So, devastated I was when I snapped the top section with a small roach on having landed Barbel, Carp, Tench and Bream various on this excellent product.

A bit aggrieved I contacted Masterline expecting the usual fob off, not our problem? was it stored correctly? how many legs have you got? ah you see if you had had three it would have been covered in the guarantee, oh your not supposed to attach a reel to it...etc etc.

Imagine my surprise when

A) I spoke to a fisherman who knew exactly what I was talking about and was very interested in my concern and expressed the same concern regarding his product.

B) had a discussion about me paying for a new tip which I was more than willing to do. I had had the rod for some time but was told no???

C) Was told that they would gladly replace the rod free of charge with the new model

It arrived within 3 weeks, I was told at the time that there would be a delay for whatever reason so no fault there even!!! And over the Christmas period.

What a superb experience dealing with this excellent company. Great concern for customer satisfaction and how refreshing in this day and age. The usual approach is who? oh a customer? Oh you don't matter we have hundreds!!

Before I am accused. I am not related in any way to anyone within the company (for you sceptics out there) but I do now own 3 John Wilson Avon rods C/O Masterline International Limited Great Company!!

What a refreshing change

nice to hear something like that for a change instead of the crap that they can come out with.

Always thought highly of the good solid workmanlike quality of their products, not flashy, not the best but always do what it says on the tin. Bloody nice to hear of such excellent customer service in addition. Good luck to 'em

Nice result, unlike the experience I had with a rod from a 'Specialist Rod' builder, that cost over £200

When I ordered the rod I asked for Roberts Reelfits. When it eventually arrived the fittings were anything but, fitted onto a poor quality cork handle that was as thick as my arm. Worse still the reel/s continually became loose. The guy blamed everything from my reels (Shimano/Browning/Mitchell) to me, and said there was not much he could do.

I sent the rod back and after what seemed like half a lifetime it was returned with the Roberts Reelfits, but still with a handle thicker than I like, and the reels STILL become loose. I believe the guy now resides in foreign climes.

It's still nice to see that customer service matters to some companies though.
