Hi, Iam a father of 3 with a eldest son of 8 whos decided he wants to go fishing. This would be fine but Ive never fished!

So anyways, Ive bought a couple of cheap sea rods and spinning reels made by Shakespeare and tomorrow we're going fishing.

Like Ive said the only issue I have is zero knowledge about fishing, including when to fish tides, baits, hooks, rods, reels. What I need to know ahead of tomorrow is what bait do I need? Is there something I can make a bodge job rod rest out of as this is something which has slipped my mind!
