Since lead killed all the swans in 1994 what metals are used for shots, bombs and feeder weights these days?

I bought a dispenser of Browning shot for my lad the other day and it is ****ing rock hard! Not like my Dinsmore stuff.

I believe that steel, tungsten-nickel-iron and tungsten-polymer are used in shot for shooting in the UK, probably the same for fishing?

Split shot are annealed tin unless an 8 or smaller when it legal to use lead. Leger weights are zinc (under 1oz). Olivette weights are tungsten (if you're lucky) or brass. Tungsten polymers were tried in the 80s for shot but hard to put on the line.

Dinsmores make pretty much all the shot in this country.

Only in wildfowling cartrides..... that can cost upwards of £25 for 10 for the 'most like lead' effect .... but not as good.....

Lead cartridges are between £3.50 and £5 a box of 25
