How do you present your worm (oo er missus!)

Do you hook it once, twice or more times?
Do you hook it through the middle, the saddle, the head or the tail?
Which is the head or the tail?
Do you break it off?

Any other info on presenting the worm gratefully received.

PS What size hook?

i am no expert Sag but, I usually just nick the hook through the skin half way along. My reasoning is whatever end a fish takes it will get 3/4 of the worm down and the hook will just be inside the mouth and the hook should pull out easily. I usually give a bite 5 seconds or more for the fish to swallow it depending on the size of worm. Trail and error needed a bit..
I suspect others will have better ways though.

For lobs I hook them generally through the saddle, hide the shank in the worm and hold it in place with a red piece of elastic band (or rubber maggot) leaving the point exposed.

I vary the way I hook worms on the species, whether I am fishing on the bottom or up in the water, the type of bottom, freelined in the margins or legered or of the float. So many variations, I personally don't think that there is one right way and believe that you should experiment to see what brings the best results for what and under what conditions.

Dendras I pinch the head off and hook through the broken end.
Lobs through the saddle.
Little redworms through the middle.

I have read in a few places that you should not hook through the saddle as that is a bit like hooking straight through the main organs and makes them die faster .
I have been using a size 10 paltrax "the hook " with mid size lobs hooked around halfway down with elastic band either side of the worm on the hook for carp this helps to cut down on small fish .

Sometimes I inject air into the head end but do this on a flat surface.

I used to use much bigger hooks like size 4 or 6 super specialists because lots of older fishing books recomend these very large hooks but I don't think it is necessary at all.

If bites are taking to long I tend to damage the tail end with a few snips .

I use the smallest ledger weight i can on the line then a quick change beed the small weight is just enough to get it to cast about 30 yards but it will still make a good plop not a splash "i think this is important"then just cast about serching the water every 5 minutes .

A great fail safe if the average fish is not too small is to take a large lob cut of an inch and keep for the hook " best hook lengths are the new korum quick stop ones ".
Then put a large pinch of the soil that the worms come in into a tub squirt van den ide worm juice over it all then chop into small pieces ram all this into a large grippy cage feeder cast out and get ready to hit the bites .I sometimes think it is better when it all splatters out on impact .

Never bothered with little red worms .

dendra's ok but always buy lobs if they have them ,out fish anything most places will order you a match pack then just keep them in the fridge check on them every other day and don't let them dry out but not with tap water .
