Seems like a simple and cheap enough idea that might make a self pic or two that much easier, or save carting a tripod around in addition to all the other inordinately excessive equipment we convince ourselves to be necessary....

[Edit]And another one.....

Look out for an adapter in your local tackle shop that's where i got mine, but its not fixed as those on e-bay it has a swivel action that can be locked with a wing nut, great bit of kit that weighs very little.

Wing nuts are good for light little snapshot cameras, but I had a tripod in the good old days of twenty odd years ago that had a similar wing nut locking system but which was prone to 'wilt' under the weight of me good old Pentax ME Super (really miss that camera, wish I still had it..... anyone need a second hand motor drive for one ? in passing that is....). I like the straightforward knurled screw in / screw out thingy and the obvious stability you're going to get off a rod pod or similar... On my birthday list !
