If you're new to carping Colin then I'd say have a look at Ian Chillcots book "Talking Carp", it explains everything in great detail... always look at online articles though, there's some gooduns and they're free /forum/smilies/wink_smiley.gif
Catch carp and tench by John Wilson would be a good first book Colin, not too exspensive either and it explains how to catch them on the float through to ledgering .
As the chaps say Frothey has a nice series which explain alot though .
Julian Cundiff wrote a couple of books, Practical Carp Fishing and Succesful Carp Fishing. They're getting on a bit but take you from the very basics up to landing, fish care and photographing. As they are oldish some of the rigs, baits etc are basic but I think they're worth a look. I picked both up at a boot fair for a pound I think. Hope this helps.
read frothey articles on hear colin he has taken his time to help us and it wont cost you a penny . dont get to caught up on you must use this rig/ bait etc etc just go out and enjoy youre fishing if you read all the does and dont about fishing you will only go fishing 3 times a year
Carp now and then by Rod Hutchinson and Carp fever by Kevin Maddocks.Gravel Pit Carp by Jim Gibbinson.
These are old by todays standards but the methods and advice make them a must read. They will also give you an invaluable insight into real carping before everything was done for you.
