Deffo Unhooking mat needed. One hell of a fish tho, mind, half of her seems to be spawn getting ready !?! Or a belly full of..... fatter than me !

You make the effort to carry a pair of forceps but even grass would be better than nothing on that stoney dirty ground ,PLEASE think of your fish's welfare and spend a few pounds on a mat. ( BET YOU WISHED YOU HADN'T POSTED THAT PICTURE NOW ? )

Unhooking mat - abin bag stuffed with bubblewrap/polystyrene packing/old rags/screwed-up newspaper would do the job at little cost - although a proper unhooking mat is not that expensive, and forms a nice frame for a fish-on-the-matphoto.

Be absolutely delighted with a nice tench of 8 lb 15 oz. After all, if you had weighed it with a set of metric scales it would have weighed 4.06 kilos - so you have "broken the 4 kg barrier" as the weeklies would put it.

Damn thats a fine tinca ya jammy bugger! Agree with the above about a mat! Thats as bad as pictures of fish being held in towels or gloves(woollen ones)!
