One of my colleagues at work has been given a Shimano Alivio beachcaster, which has the markings 12 21/2 6T CDL on the butt. Any clues as to what it is, casting weights, value etc ..?

Kev some shimano beachcasters have their test curve on I think, so the 12 21/2 bit I think means it is 12 ft 2 and a half pound tc.

Thanks Tom. I will try Shimano. And Eddie, test curves on beachcasters, how do the sea boys convert that to casting weights.....!!! Oh, that'll be the same way the carp and pike boys do then...!

I just remember a mate of mine had a Shimano beachcaster with the tc on Kev.

Ha, well looks like the joke is on me. The bloke bought it in to show me today and it's a bluddi carp rod - so of course it is 12' - 2.5lb TC.......!!!!
In my defence it was him that told me it was a beachcaster.............so sorry, and thanks for your help anyway
