I have not been on the bank for a very long time! I have no inclination to go fishing at all at the moment. I have been so 'down' about it all, I have got very close to selling all my gear. I know I would be stupid to do so, as if I did start again, I would need another mortgage to replace it all.

Anyone have any suggestions for me please?

Join small local club, forget France for a year or so, get back down on the bank and enjoy it.A nice small intimate water, you know where i'm coming from Malc. You can even use my chair.

Nice to see you back Malc.

Do a sesion or two as a social with the lads. Whatever you do, don't sell your gear.

Been there and done it, struggled to getgoing after serious illness.

But I got talking to a mate of mine and we decided to fish one day a week somewhere, then another mate said similar so two days a week I'm 'forced' to fish where probably wouldn't have bothered on my own.

When the weathers really crap we still meet for coffee and the craic, maybe make rigs up, have a run out to tackle shop, anything to get going and fishing based.

When the better weather comes and a trip or two will also help or try and plansomething different.........

I haven't a pole (was lent one and just can't get on with it) but thinking about a whip for something different? If Im right 4 or 5 metre whip with 3 or 4 metre line tied on end swing it out swing it in ( basically ) fishing in margins for a laugh, some good fish caught in margins /forum/smilies/wink_smiley.gifbut thats my next 'plan' as well as buggering about with groundbait experiments /forum/smilies/thinking_smiley.gif

Keep going buddy, spring here soon......

Back to basics for me Malc. Rod, reel, net, maggots, worms, bread or corn and a float with a red tip and the springtime sun on your back sat at a nice mixed fishery somewhere.

Nice to see you back mate.

Do as Eddy says Malc, dont sell your gear you will regret it, wait till the weather warms up a bit, until then surf the porn sites, until the feeling comes back (for fishing). My son stops going now and then always comes back though enjoys it more.

PS dont borrow Gaunt's chair there must be a catch

You know where hes coming from Malc!

What does he mean?

Hey, thanks for the replies lads - much apreciated. /forum/smilies/smile_smiley.gif

Yup, I know where you are coming from Wol, oh, and erm, I think the mice have had your chair. lol

I do still have one club ticket left as its about a 4 year waiting list to re-join. So that would be favourite, I guess. I could fish that differently than previous visits. Back to basics eh? Sounds good.

Social sounds good Baz.

All I have been doing is surfing the porn sites, I got fed up with that too! lol

Hmmm? The river Paul? Now that has got me thinking!!!

Tell you what Malc, write an article for FM. You know something like'carper goes general fishing at syndicate/carp lake' something with a slightly different slant on.

DONT go to France, bad move. Like i said, local lake, get ya little smurf arse down to it, not always the barrow two/three day session. Few hours, fishing where most dont, the margins, fishing what most dont, potatoes, joking (although would work) nice tidy little particle mix, simple rigs, and say popped up sweetcorn, sounds good dont it, enjoy.
