I know that this has been mentioned previously, but how many people actually have specific insurance for their fishing gear and what was the ball park cost?

i keep considering it, but it seems to me to be very expensive.

I did many years ago, while still a teenager, when my tackle was kept in a shed. After mice chewed through all my nets and some cork handles i made a claim, but got no joy as the policy excluded damage by vermin. That was the first and last time i have been fleeced by an insurance company. Before you make a claim make sure it is covered by the policy.

You can take out "All risks" cover on items that are often taken out of the house, cameras, clothing etc. I would have thought fishing tackle could be included with this. The important detail is the amount of the excess which may vary from insurer to insurer

avoid specialist insurers, make sure its covered on your household insurance, and get it covered all risk, make sure you have receipts for your newer purchases, take pics of everything you have, make an inventory of all of your stuff, and make sure you inform the insurers of any items worth over £500.

my old job was working for a large fishing retailer, that deals with insurance claims every d

Before i moved recently my tackle along with my sons was kept in my garage, it was insured in with my contents insurance with Tesco, after a break in some of the tackle was stolen, there wasnt a problem with the insurance company ( different to the police who were not interested although i dont know what they could have done) they paid out by bank transfer within 2 weeks.

Some companies will insist that you go to specific tackle shops to buy your new tackle who they must have some sort of deal with, much better i think to recieve the cash and then be able to go to a shop of your choice where you can negotiate a deal for the tackle you are buying.
